How to Prevent Roof Ice Build-up From Causing Major Damage to Your House This Winter

You've seen it many times - a mass of heavy ice collecting at the eaves of a roof. But did you ever wonder why these hazardous (and dangerous) ice masses and icicles form? The answer is simple: Trapped heat in your attic melts the snow on your roof. The melting snow then trickles downward to the edges of the roof and re-freezes, over and over again, continually adding more ice mass, and eventually results in extreme havoc to the structure of your roof. You might not know the extent of the damage until it is way too late: Damage such as warping and detachment of eave troughs, fascia board warping, roof wood rot, and melting ice leaking into your house resulting in drywall and plaster stains. Why does this happen? You might be surprised by the answer. The power of ice is tremendous. When water freezes it expands and creates a huge force that pushes against anything in its way. This unstoppable force can bend steel like bubble gum. Imagine this huge level of pressure pushing against soft materials such as wood, aluminum, asphalt shingles, or bricks, concrete, and stone walls (all easy prey for ice dams). Clearly, the damage could be enormous.

What is the answer? Here it is: The only lasting solution to prevent roof ice damming is proper roof ventilation. Why? Because proper roof ventilation removes the trapped heat in your attic (the very heat that causes ice dams) and studies prove that a cool attic during winter stops the thaw/re-freeze cycle and thus stops the melting snow from re-freezing at the roof edges. But how does roof ventilation specifically prevent ice damming? The answer is to create an attic temperature that is close or the same to the temperature outside of the attic using specific roof/attic ventilation procedures such as soffit roof ventilation and ridge roof ventilation. Let's expand on these two types of roof ventilation. Soffit ridge ventilation is a system of openings along the perimeter of your roof. These openings are referred to as intake vents. Their purpose is to allow air to easily enter the underside of your roof which will then travel skyward to the top of your roof directly beneath the roof boards. Ridge ventilation (at the top of your roof) will now complete the process. Ridge ventilation is a continuous vent that is installed along the entire ridge (or top) of your roof, referred to as exhaust vents.

Using the wind, ridge ventilation pulls air out of the attic using an energy-free power source, namely Mother Nature. Wind creates a negative pressure that effectively pulls a constant stream of new air into the soffit vents, along the entire surface of the attic roof boards, and is then expelled out through the ridge vents. The outcome is substantial. With fresh air constantly being pumped throughout your roof's attic spaces, any trapped heat is removed. When this heat is removed, the temperature of your attic becomes close or equal to the outside temperature. The result is no melting snow that will dribble down and re-freeze at the eaves of your roof. As a final word of advice, be sure that the ridge vent is baffled. A baffle is simply a small curve on the ridge vent itself that creates the negative pressure that sucks the trapped heat out of your attic much more efficiently than ridge ventilation without baffles. Without this baffle, the effect will be minimal. Lastly, the ratio of soffit and ridge ventilation should be 50/50 for optimal results, meaning 50% soffit intake, and 50% ridge exhaust.

The Only Solution for World Peace

We know that this sounds insane, and too good to be true, but the Messiah is now on Planet Earth. The Holy Biblical Signs of his arrival from the Prophet Isaiah were that he was to be accompanied by great rocks of hail, (The breaking up of the Antarctic Iceberg, and the breaking up of the Arctic Greenland Iceberg), and a great destroying tempest of overflowing waters, (The Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina). 4 signs, North, South, East, West.

In the Holy Bibles of Christianity Islam and Judaism God of Mount Sinai promised through the prophets Moses, Isaiah, Malachi, Ezekiel, Jesus Christ, and Muhammad, that God would smash down a wall, a Levi, with a destroying tempest of overflowing waters, leaving filth in the streets, announcing that the Messiah was on Earth. We wrote, dated, and predicted all of this in detail with Biblical citations in March 2005 online at The Temple of Love, months before Katrina hit on August 29, 2005.
http://www.thetempleoflove.com
on New Page 3, Our Differences.

In 33 AD the Jewish people in Israel believed Psalm 2 that God would help the Messiah take a rod of iron and smash the occupying Roman Empire just like God had helped Moses part the Red Sea and drown the Egyptian Army. This did not happen. Instead, Jesus united 2 billion Christian people today with a few simple words. Then Muhammad united a billion Muslims today with a few more words. Today, Nov. 4, 2005, the Christian and Muslim people are expecting their Messiah Jesus Christ to return on a flying white horse from Heaven to defeat the evil on Earth and usher in an era of Peace forever. We hate to be grinchlike, but this will not happen either.

Saving life on Earth is up to Us All. You, are the Messiah. By definition, All of Us on Earth today, United as One, toward the common goal of creating World Peace and Paradise on Earth Forever, have the ability to create it now. We must all choose now weather to be the saviors or the destroyers of all life on Earth forever. God said through King David in Psalm 82:6, You are Gods, You are children of God, All of you. You are also potential Messiahs. Our fate rests in our own hands. We survive or we perish. Its up to us now.

The Temple of Love Unites Christianity Islam Judaism and Everyone else, and the countries they all live in, by tying us together with our common threads and resolving all of our differences. The Temple of Love is the only solution for saving life on Earth from extinction in nuclear world war and its aftermath nuclear winter then ultraviolet summer. World Peace is our only hope. We have become too smart, too technologically advanced for Nuclear World War, and its aftermath nuclear winter then ultraviolet summer, our present heading, which will have zero survivors, unlike New Orleans and the Tsunami. It's common knowledge.

Feng Shui and Your Homes

Everybody in the world wants to achieve harmony in the home or in anyplace they are staying. Harmony is achieved when the right energy flow is done. Feng shui as the principle that shows you this achievement of harmony will also bring a positive energy flow in the environment. The arrangement of things in your home can bring negative energy, so that's why feng shui is here to help. The placement of things that gives positive energy is the goal. Don't confuse yourself as it is for decorating purposes only.

Feng shui in translation means wind and water. Wind in the ancient time is said to carry energy consequently changing and transforming nature. Water is said to trap energy thus it represents constancy. There must be a balance between this two to attain harmony and rhythm in the home.

It's living with nature and not opposing to it. We know very well that we can greatly benefit out of nature. Our environment is helping us to live, so there must be harmony in all aspects. Physical and emotional characteristics affect our lives and how we live in our home. Beauty is what we need in our surroundings and we should not damage the balance in our homes through things that brings misfortune.

Some people may think that this is just a waste of time, but there's no harm in trying. Either way, if it proves to be true then it's a gain for you. Feng shui only teaches the homeowners how to put things in perspective, making it possible for positive energy to stay in the home. There are different unbalanced situations in the home. One of which is how to arrange everything in the bedroom so problems may possibly not occur. If there's trouble between lovers in the bedroom, few things might be move so as to keep the bedroom energy flowing. Yes, there is positive energy in the bedroom. There is energy everywhere in the home.

They say that we have to associate feng shui with architectural planning before making an establishment. Some architects doesn't support this they say that the law of physics is still important for them and not metaphysical principles.

We always wonder and hope for balance and harmony to flow in our homes. It is essential to keep the family in tact after all the years together. Living a harmonious life can lead to vast experiences of luck and prosperous future. The blessings we long for and the chance to provide ourselves a flourishing life is made possible through feng shui. Feng shui is ideal for using the environment or nature, working together with you.

Feng shui is not telling you to trust them but it is enticing you to try. Have the confidence and comfort that you know there is positive energy around you. This energy and the principle of feng shui might give you that luck you deserve. Feng shui is attracting you to try their method and maybe it will provide solution for the problem at your home.

Trends in Cookware and the Kitchen

Trends in the cookware industry, like most industries, are set and determined by what consumers are buying. Trends will follow the consumer's preferences and interests based on supply and demand and the purchasing power of individuals. Currently there are a few shifts in the consumer market bringing recently developed technologies to the fore front of the market.

Induction cooking has seen in increase in the past year due to its highly safe and energy efficient nature and technology. The burners do not get hot; only the pan is heated which allows for far less energy to be used. Not to mention the increased safety of not having hot burners which children and adults alike can burn themselves with. The induction cooktops are replacing electric and gas stoves throughout the market and are gaining in popularity as society moves to be more efficient.

Microwaves have also been gaining in popularity recently due to their versatile and quick cooking methods. Microwaves preserve more of the nutrients in food than traditional cooking methods, and have been noted by those individuals seeking a more nutritious diet and lifestyle. Micro organisms are a main concern in food preparation; microwaves heat food at such a high rate that the micro organisms do not have time to incubate in the 5 to 60C temperature. Of course, microwaves are well known for their faster than average cooking times which is an advantage for busy families.

As far as cookware is concerned, there has been a shift to a more aesthetically pleasing exterior. People want their cookware to be as beautiful as they are and with this, new materials are being developed and used in cookware design and manufacturing. Stainless steel, while it is highly durable, is also used for its high shine bringing aesthetics into your cookware. In addition, glass cookware is on the rise as it is pretty and functional falling into the aesthetics of the current trends.

The God of War Or Peace - Helping With Bible Problems

Here's two verses I found in the Bible that seem to contradict themselves but I'm sure that with a little creativity and manipulation, a good minister or religious scholar, could make some sense out of it.

Exodus 15:3 (New International Version) The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name.

Romans 15:33 (New International Version) The God of peace be with you all. Amen.

The Lord is a warrior does not mean that he fights or kills, does it. According to the Old Testament, God killed plenty of people and even took out an entire city one time, flooded the earth to get rid of the evil and of course who could forget, that once we get into the New Testament, God killed his only begotten son Jesus. I don't know if I would really want this guy as my father.

It seems like he has a pretty bad temper on him but is extremely loving, caring and understanding. Are you confused yet, I am. Maybe I shouldn't be throwing the word I am around.

The God of peace states that he is a loving and understanding leader. This makes more sense to me because he did create the earth and everything around it. If I was for example, building a home to create a nice peaceful place to live, I wouldn't be thinking about destroing what I created. I would be thinking more along the lines of how I could take care of this creation.

It makes more sense to me that God would be peaceful but sometimes in order to have peace, we need to be a warrior. If God would have created us to be more compassionate, gave us plenty of food to eat, plenty of homes to live in, removed our sinful nature and of course who could forget, give us a purpose in life that is clearly understandable, I wouldn't see a need for warriors.

Maybe the God of peace is different than the Lord is a warrior. Thinking is a good thing, put your thinking caps on and start reading some of the Bible with an open mind.

Reflections on Goddess Religion

The renewed interest and critical discussion of the ancient goddess religion open a path to the Perennial Philosophy, a substratum of human culture and consisting of a cluster of ideas, insights, view points, and attitudes about life found in most, if not all, societies. Basic concepts of the goddess religion can also offer insights into Hermes' art, which is still relevant and beneficial today.

Pelasgians are a people and their language who populated the southern Balkan Peninsula, Aegean Islands, and coast of Asia Minor before Greek invasions of the second millennium B.C. They were the last of the Neolithic goddess cultures. The name is even mentioned in some alchemical texts. Fulcanelli, the Master Alchemist of the twentieth century, specifically states that the hermetic cabala, Hermes' language, maintains the essence of the Pelasgians' mother language. Hermes' language birthed from the Neolithic cultures, if not earlier.

The goddess has many images linked to her: cave, moon, stone, serpent, bird, fish, and tree; spiral, meander, and labyrinth; wild animals such as lion, bull, bison, stag, goat, and horse; rituals of fertility; and journey of the soul to another dimension. Each historical goddess has many of these characteristics and often several different ones.

Isis, the greatest goddess of Egypt, was worshipped for over 3000 years. Her attributes are the tree of life, cow, serpent, pig, bird, underworld, Sirius, words of power, and great mother goddess of the universe.

According to the twentieth century scholar Marija Gimbutas, the serpent crown refers back to the Neolithic snake goddess, who wore such a crown. These snake crowns symbolize wisdom and wealth. Struggling with a huge white snake will gain the seeker a crown. Wearing the crown, the initiate knows all, is able to find hidden treasures, and can communicate with animals. Hermes knows that the serpent goddess is the living water, the philosophical mercury, and the white queen. Gimbutas' book, The Living Goddesses, is filled with many insights and presents an excellent comprehension of Neolithic culture and the goddess tradition.

The ancient rock art in Australia that depicts hermaphroditic figures is similar to some goddess images in European Neolithic art. Humans have lived in Australia for more than 40,000 years, arriving there during the Paleolithic. The hermaphrodite (the word is a blending of Hermes and Aphrodite) is an important alchemical concept.

The discussion about the stone symbol in Anne Baring and Jules Cashford's The Myth of the Goddess is profound. A stone lasts a long time and can symbolize eternity or timelessness. During the Neolithic, or earlier, it represented the foundation or essence of life, such as the soul or spirit that endured after the death of the body. The stone is, of course, a dominant symbol in alchemy: its goal is to obtain the philosopher's stone.

Two major themes of religious ceremony, starting in the Neolithic if not earlier, are the sacred marriage and birth of the child. A union with a divine spirit is inherent in all mystical ceremonies and practices. Initiation into the great spiritual mysteries has been a human activity for thousands of years, perhaps since the beginning of time. The female signifies the continuous pattern of birth-death-rebirth, which is the principle of regeneration. The male signifies the life of the individual, the short span of temporal life beginning with birth and ending with death. The neophyte enters the hidden subterranean recesses and dies a first death and only then does rebirth occur. Now the worldly and spiritual realms remain open to each other. The goddess was the portal into the hidden dimension through which the dead passed on their way to rebirth.

The dying god, a religious theme originating in antiquity, symbolizes physical life that is constantly changing, and the goddess illumines the principle of life that endures by eternally renewing itself. The goddess represents continuity while the god, sharing in the impermanent essence of the seed, dies annually.

More insight is revealed in The Myth of the Goddess. In goddess culture the manifest is the physical emanation of the unmanifest. So time is cyclical, a movement of manifesting to non-manifesting to manifesting and so forth. This is the lunar cycle. Because patriarchal culture sees time in a linear fashion of conflict with and conquest of opposition or the other, war and warriors are the central theme of history. Conquest in battle is the primary means of overcoming separation, but it never completely solves the problem because some opposition continues and remains hidden until it grows strong enough to challenge the victor. Thus, life is viewed as a perpetual struggle, battling foes and winning victories or being defeated, an onerous happening.

The goddess trinity comprises a young woman, a mother giving birth, and an old woman. The trinity is an ancient concept, probably in use before the Neolithic.

The trinity or three goddesses are the three visible phases of the moon. The hidden fourth-the dark or new moon-is the goddess of the night or of the unmanifest. The child born to the mother is signified by the sun born from the moon. At new moon the night sky is dark. Afterwards, the sun is gradually resurrected until full moon when its full light illumines the night sky. Then daily the sun dies away until its light is gone.

The goddess as mother of life sends her children forth into the world and as mother of death gathers her children unto her as they return from the world. The natural cycles signify this process of life and death.

The visible part, the son or daughter, comes from and returns to the invisible: the whole is the mother goddess. This idea is found in the Bronze Age. Based on the observation of natural phenomena, the idea no doubt is primeval in origin.

The ancient Middle Eastern cultures of Sumer, Babylon, and Egypt demonstrate the change from goddess religion to god religion. Inanna, a Sumerian goddess who later becomes Babylonian Ishtar, is the Great Mother Goddess, who holds the caduceus and double-headed ax as symbols of her power. The lunar cycle represents her power of life and death. The queen of heaven and earth, she has these attributes: the tree of life (palm tree), dove, owl, lion, dragon, serpent, scorpion, planet Venus, and Sirius. In Sumerian times Sirius was known as the Bow Star and rose in conjunction with the sun at sunrise during the month of July. Dumuzi or Tammuz is the son-lover, consort of Inanna-Ishtar. The caduceus and double-headed ax become his symbols; he is also imaged as a fish-god and a shepherd and sometimes wears a skirt with a net pattern. The son-lover possesses some of his mother's features.

The great cosmic cycle of life and death can be described in this way: the soul comes from or is born from the goddess, and its life cycle resembles the lunar cycle; at death the soul returns to the goddess. This cycle is very conducive and supportive of reincarnation.

So much evidence leads to the conclusion that the Paleolithic moral order as encompassed in the goddess religion did not die but lives now albeit underground renewing itself. It will assert itself when the times beckon. An important cosmic principle is that the seed must die for it to live.

Did Jesus Actually Ever Get Mad - Video

Awfulizing Creates Negativity

From Pain To Power: Suicide, Part One; The Big "Why?"

Just last week, I heard of another friend who committed suicide.

I can think, offhand, of about five people, not including him, whom Ive been somewhat close to, whove made that choice in my lifetime of 55 years. Sad to say, but my immediate thought when writing this was, That aint bad, considering the state of the world and the challenges of living!

Corey (name changed) was special to me in that I had been a part of a healing ceremony with him where, essentially, he was baptized by fire. I believe I witnessed his physical transformation from a man hounded by personal demons into a man willing to face life squarely. It was a phenomenal experience that happened in an instant. Youd expect someone like Robert DeNiro to pull an instantaneous, visible, change like that off, but the actor would be doing it so we could see it, whereas what we witnessed in Corey was the choice to be it.

Transformations like that happen all the time. We say to ourselves, Well, in Coreys case, it didnt hold very well, did it? But who are we, who keep on going, to say?

What I havent mentioned is that Ive been an integral part of one or another stage of two hundred or more suicides. I was in emergency services as an ambulance paramedic for twelve years, and I doubt theres a phase Ive missed in whatever process there may be. In those and subsequent years, Ive counseled many on the brink. Of those whom Ive counseled, I dont know that any have followed through on the act. Usually, the encounters were flashes of despair that dissipated over time (more on this, later).

But the first thing I say to someone whom I counsel is Yes, suicide is an option.

I come from the point of view that it happens enough, it is such an integral part of the experience of being human, that it could not be otherwise than an option. No matter how much you may try to regulate it, you cannot stop it. You cannot even stem its tide by promising eternal damnation. Its something we do, and some of us more happily than others.

Yes, I said more happily. In conversation, Im sure youve heard of the term shit-eating grin. In the ambulance trade it refers to a look of complete relief and contentment on the face of a dead body. I have encountered these kinds of facial expressions most often in suicides.

With most everyone else, if there is any clearly definable expression at all its in the vein of What the Hell? Get me outta here! The grins of these suicides, however, speak, Ive made it!

Generalization is a trap, of course, and by no means am I saying that suicides are a happy thing. The point I wish to make is that suicide can be as much a vehicle of personal empowerment as it appears to be evidence of resounding defeat.

To live is to get scarred. No one gets out alive -- in the form we have right now, anyhow. The only difference for any of us is when. There is not a one of us who isnt doing something to hasten our own deaths, if nothing else than clinging to a belief in it.

What we do with our lives is a function of choice, which is so sacred even God doesnt mess with it. Free will has no limitations, which means even causing our own deaths (which happens all the time) is a gift offered by life.

What our impressions of life are what our interpretations of our circumstances are is what our lives become. If we interpret our lives as intolerable, with the only outlet remaining to be death at our own hands, then that is exactly what it will be. To the person who commits suicide, it is a by-product of their considered, not casual interpretation of their circumstances.

By no means am I advocating suicide. I am just suggesting that those who are left behind make room to see the world through the eyes of the person who has cashed in his or her chips. If you begin from the place that, for the individual, her world-view was valid, under the circumstances you may be able to grasp that taking her own life was appropriate.

Its funny how we use phrases like, those who are left behind, or, we, who carry on, or, the ones remaining to describe who is left after the dying go and these not being specific to suicides. The implication, as Buddha says, is that life is suffering. We all know and experience this. Perhaps the wonder is not that so many people commit suicide, but that so many more of us dont.

Next, walking in the others shoes.

Is Jesus the Only Way to Heaven? - The Good People Get to Go to Heaven Also

I found a website that was recommended to me and it had the comment, is Jesus the only way to heaven at, Gotquestions, seems like your typical Christian website that replies with biblical quotes and simple to follow information. If I was lost, they will help me find a way. There's even a button at the bottom that states, I have accepted Christ today. I guess if I was to push that button, I get to go to heaven and be with Jesus. Hard to imagine, avoiding a life of burning in hell could be as simple as pushing a button and uttering a few simple words.

I found this question and began reading their comment. The first comment is from somebody answering as a nonbeliever in Christianity. It states something like, if I'm basically a good person and live a moral life, I get to go to heaven, right, only the bad people like murderers go to hell.

Now the answer that the website gives, seems to create fear if you do not belong to Christianity and provide you with hope if you join the group.

It mentioned Satan as the ruler of the world, and he can plant these thoughts into your head if you're not a Christian. He also controls your mind and let's you believe, that it would only make sense to any rational person, they get to go to heaven if they're good.

Now this is what makes sense to me but according to this information, I am doomed to rot in hell for eternity, even if I am a pretty good person. All I have to do is accept Christ as God and I get to go to heaven. That seems pretty easy and I wonder why more people don't do it. Just push the button.

I wonder if Satan is controlling, non-Christians minds and that's why there's brutality and war throughout the world. If everyone was a Christian, would our world be better.

Here's a quote from Wikipedia The Crusades were a series of religion-driven military campaigns waged by much of Christian Europe against external and internal opponents. Crusades were fought mainly against Muslims, though campaigns were also directed against pagan Slavs, Jews, Russian and Greek Orthodox Christians, Mongols, Cathars, Hussites, Waldensians, Old Prussians, and political enemies of the popes.

These Christian Crusades killed thousands of people. To give you an idea how many people were killed, all I had to do was type the word crusades into a search engine and it took me to the Christian Crusades.

I guess that rules that out, it seems like the Christians a long time ago were pretty aggressive towards their enemies, I wonder if most Christians would refer to these people as enemies today or are they just being controlled by Satan. Do these Christians from the Crusades get to go to heaven? If people like this get to go to heaven, may be hell is a better place anyway.

Spirituality and The Bottom Line

Whadda ya know?

Seriously. With absolute certainty, what do you know?
Put aside all opinions, beliefs and theories for a moment and address this one straight question: What do you know for sure? Or, as Thoreau put it:

"Let us settle ourselves, and work and wedge our feet downward through the mud and slush of opinion, and prejudice, and tradition, and delusion, and appearance, that alluvion which covers the globe... through church and state, through poetry and philosophy and religion, till we come to a hard bottom and rocks in place, which we can call reality, and say, This is, and no mistake; and then begin..."

In other words, let's cut the crap and figure out what's real. The cogito does exactly that, and it's very simple. The question is: What do you know?

The answer is: I Am.

All other so-called facts are really non-facts and belong in the category of consensual reality and relative truth, i.e., unreal reality and untrue truth.

::: Cogito Ergo Sum

Cogito ergo sum is the equation that proves the fact. But first, before we go on, let's ask what else we know. What else can be said for certain?

Nothing. We don't know anything else. And that's the real point of the cogito. The importance of I Am isn't that it's a fact, but that it's the only fact.

I Am is the only thing anyone has ever known or will ever know. Everything else, all religion and philosophy, is nothing more than dream interpretation. There is no other fact than I Am. The cogito is the seed of the thought that destroys the universe. Beyond the cogito, nothing is known. Beyond the cogito, nothing can be known. Except I Am, no one knows anything. No man or god can claim to know more. No God or array of gods can exist or be imagined that know more than this one thing: I Am.

We can't avoid letting this topic drift briefly into the Christian realm. When Moses asked God His name, God answered, "I am that I am." The name God gives for Himself is I Am.

Note that I Am is unconjugatable. It allows of no variation. God doesn't say, "My name is I Am, but you can call me You Are, or He Is." The cogito, the I Am equation, does not extend beyond one's own subjective knowing. I can say I Am and know it as truth, but I can't say you are, he is, she is, we are, they are, it is, etc. I know I exist and nothing else. Understood thusly, I Am, aka God, truly is the Alpha and the Omega; the entirety of being, of knowledge, of you.

::: The Line Is Drawn

The cogito is the line between fantasy and reality. On one side of the cogito is a universe of beliefs and ideas and theories. To cross the line is to leave all that behind. No theory, concept, belief, opinion or debate can have any possible basis in reality once the ramifications of the cogito have fully saturated the mind. No dialogue can take place across that line because nothing that makes sense on either side makes sense on the other.

We all think we know what the cogito means; this is an invitation to challenge that assumption. If professors of philosophy truly understood it, they wouldn't be professors of philosophy. Alfred North Whitehead said that all philosophy is a footnote to Plato, but all philosophy, Plato included, is rendered obsolete and irrelevant by Descartes. Nothing but the subjective I Am is true, so what's the point of prattling on?

The cogito isn't a mere thought or an idea, it is an ego-eating virus that, properly incubated and nurtured, will eventually devour all illusion. Once we know the cogito, we can begin systematically unknowing everything we thought we knew, and unraveling the self we aren't.

::: Life is but a Dream

There is no such thing as objective reality. Two cannot be proven. Nothing can be shown to exist. Time and space, love and hate, good and evil, cause and effect, are all just ideas. Anyone who says they know anything is really saying they don't know the only thing. The greatest religious and philosophical thoughts and ideas in the history of man contain no more truth than the bleating of sheep. The greatest books are no more authoritative than the greatest luncheon meats.

No one knows anything.

::: Disprove it for Yourself

Anyone wishing to deny these statements about the meaning of the cogito need merely prove that something, anything, is true. By all means, give it a try, dash your head upon it, but it can't be done. Cogito ergo sum, however, isn't the endpoint of inquiry, it's the starting point; it's a tool that helps us see, without intermediaries, exactly what is true and what isn't.

How great is that?

Christmas - The Birth of the Christ Consciousness Within

The Christ is not just one person. The Christ is an "office" or "position" we ALL attain to. The word Christ means, "the anointed one." Jesus came to show us the way to be a vessel for the Love of God to manifest.

When the Christ Spirit entered Jesus he had perfected His soul in many lifetimes to be a worthy temple for Love incarnate. Edgar Cayce said that Jesus was Adam. In the "fall" was the promise of full redemption.

The Christ Consciousness is part of the Trinity, known by different names in many religions. The Father is the Will and Power of God, the Son or Daughter, the Christ, is the Love of God, and Holy Spirit Mother is the Thought, Wisdom, Understanding, Truth, Faith and Wisdom of God Goddess.

Where did the concept of the Christ come to mean just one person? Was it a matter of control?

The Christ of our time was Jesus. In every age the Christ Spirit enters an advanced soul to bring higher learning to the people of that time. Moses, Abraham, Buddha, Krishna, and Mohammed, have all come to teach their people a more advanced connection to the Great Spirit. There is always a great teacher who comes to show us the way and the great possibilities of us as Human/Divine beings.

The biggest secret is that God is within each one of us, and also in every atom of space and in every form we see.

This Christmas, let us pray to truly forgive anyone who we may be angry with, including forgiving self. Let the power of Love heal all wounds.

Enjoy Christmas and observe the 12 Holy Days December 26-January 6, as a dedication to the 12 months ahead. Let this devotion bring you ever closer to the possibility of the Christ of Love being born within.

Let this sacred season bring us joy, peace and healing of all conditions. Let the Christ Consciousness of Love be born within each one of us so that we may usher in the 1,000 years of peace!

A Low-Tech, Green Solution Saving California's Multi-Billion Dollar Wine Industry

Next time you kick-back with your favorite glass of vino give a shout to a pioneering group of Golden Retrievers in America's winemaking capital, Napa Valley. Because in the U.S. where wine outsells coffee and ice cream, these ace-detective canines do a lot more than fetch Frisbees beneath the glimmering sun.

California produces 95% of all U.S. wine exports and wine grapes are the Golden State's #1 finished agricultural crop. They add $51 billion to the state's bottom-line and help to keep California the 7th largest economy in the world. Plus, California's world-class vintners bring-in an additional $125 billion of ching-ching to our national coffers. But there's a nasty blight on this rosy picture.

Winemaking regions across Europe, South Africa, New Zealand, and California alike are under siege by alien armies of highly destructive Mealy bugs. The speck-like, sticky white pests can enter vineyards on nursery rootstock, farm equipment, or even in blow in on the wind. Once they've infiltrated, they burrow under leaves and in underground roots. They're hard to detect, expensive to eradicate, breed rapidly and spread a crop-destroying virus that has cost California tens of thousands of wine-growing acres, and tens of millions of dollars.

And not only is the use of pesticides an expensive option, it is increasingly undesirable with consumers, winery neighbors, and vintners alike. Environmental pragmatics, as well as the growing organic market segment, dictate an industry-movement to sustainably grown crops.

Faced with this formidable brewsky, a consortium of Napa Valley wine-makers decided that since female Mealys exude sex-hormones, then dog breeds that sniff out bombs might likely detect early infestations in vines, which could then be destroyed before healthy plants were threatened, too.

Thirty winemakers pitched in on the $33,000 tab--a fracion of the millions spent every year for Mealy bug preventative herbicides--and the Assistance Dog Institute in Santa Rosa put a group of pups through their paces.

The institute trained a litter of two-month old Goldens by acclimating them to the artificially produced scent of female Mealy pheromones hoping that once in the fields the doggies would go right to the eau de pest parfume.

The dogs were soon zeroing-in on vineyard infestations with resounding accuracy. The hope of many vintners is that this inexpensive, and eco-friendly method of protecting the goldmine crop will soon be a howling success throughout the state's wine-producing regions.

And with the Golden Retriever's notable sense and scents-ability, and wine's taste tied to its fragrance, perhaps our furry friends could also make 5-Star sommeliers. Not only could they quickly retrieve the best among the over 10,000 available wine labels, they'd do so with a wag of the tail and in return would expect only a loving pat. I imagine many folks would drink to that.

Power Saving

Property owners are looking for more ways than ever to "DIY", tackling their own home improvement projects to save money and boost property values. One of the best projects doesn't require power tools and will have a huge impact - on your electric bill. Here are a few things you can do this weekend to save hundreds of dollars this year.

1) Compact fluorescent lights (CFL) - you might be tired of hearing about them but a 14-watt CFL is as bright as a 60-watt incandescent bulb, uses 75 percent less energy, and lasts ten times longer. A 4-pack costs under $10 but likely represents nearly $800 in lifetime savings.

2) Exterior lighting - If you can read book outside at night, you're probably wasting energy. Switch out 60 watt candelabra (mini) bulbs for 20 or 40-watt ones, and 60-watt standard bulbs with 14-watt CFLs.

3) Electric hot water heater - Does your hot water heater and pipes feel warm to the touch? Insulate them and cut power use up to 25 percent. Carefully wrap the copper hot water pipes with tubular polyethylene insulation or insulated pipe wrap ($6 for 25 feet). Water heater blankets go for around $20 and can be installed with duct tape and a pair of scissors. Just make sure you don't cover the access panels.

One day of sweat equity and a $50 investment could pay for itself within two months, and keep returning guaranteed savings for years to come. These days, that's even better than your IRA! This project can be done this weekend and before you know it, you will be saving a lot of money.

All Natural Energy - 5 Healthy Foods to Eat While On the Go

Have you ever had one of those days where you feel like you are rushed with work, and cant fit lunch in? You are not alone! Everyone has them all the time, and they manage them in their own ways whether it is running to the local cafe, stopping by the vending machine, or not eating at all, however, a lot of people seem to push daily meals aside and make crazy headway on their daily errands. It is very important to not skip meals, so here are five ways to eat healthy while on the go:

1. Go for the fruitIts loaded with nutrients.

Fruit is a hop, skip, and a jump away from eating, say, potato chips or a chocolate bar as a quick snack. Fruit contains natural sugars that give your body raw energy. These raw sugars stimulate your brain and give you the ability to think faster and recall things quicker. Fruit also contains a lot of water. Your body is 80% water so in essence you are feeding your body with what it needs. What I personally like about fruit is that it is loaded with nutrients and is incredibly filling. Try an orange, apple, or banana, as they are great on-the-go fruits that will fill you up and travel well in your bag before you run out the door in the morning.

2. CerealNot just a breakfast food anymore.

While pouring your morning bowl, grab a baggie and throw in some dry cereal for a great late afternoon snack. It is important to note, choose cereals low in sugars like Life, Raisin Bran, Grape Nuts, Cheerios, etc. Dry cereal is low-calorie and is a good source of fiber (look for cereals with over three grams of fiber). Fiber fills you up and can tide you over until dinner time. If possible, select a cereal that is whole-grain as it helps reduce the risk of heart disease.

3. CrackersCant go wrong here.

Crackers, although many might say they are plain, are another great snack to eat on the go before your next appointment. It doesnt matter what kind of crackers you eatwhole grain, multi-grain, graham, or animalall these crackers are healthy for you, in moderation. Dont bring the whole box with you in the car, because if you are like me, the whole box will be gone before I even got home. Like cereal, grab a bag and put five or six crackers in, along with some great cheese (Cabot is my favorite) if you have it. Cheese and crackers is a great pair that provides a balanced snack for the morning or late afternoon.

4. YogurtDont forget the spoon.

Yogurt is a delicious snack that now comes in an array of flavors, with different toppings like granola and crushed Oreos. Try to avoid these toppings, as they are added fat and calories with no real nutritional benefit. Yogurt is great because it has fruit in it and it is loaded with potassium, protein, and calcium. Yogurt is also known to boost your immune system, so if youre sick, grab some yogurt and eat awayits healthy for you!

5. Energy BarsNot all of them are candy bars.

Alot of energy bars out on the market are literally candy barsloaded with fat and unneeded calories. In looking for an energy bar, you should look for one that is all natural, meaning that is has no preservatives, which does mean a shorter shelf-life, however, that means the product is more likely to be fresh. Also, look for energy bars with a lot of protein and fiber, a healthy combination and balanced snack requirement. If you would like to know what you are eating, look for energy bars that have familiar ingredients, like ones you could find in your kitchen cabinet. Do you know what potassium pyrosulfite is? I didnt think so. Go with what you know.

If you do choose to skip a meal, it is very important to at least have a healthy, nourishing snack to hold you over until your next meal. Try your hardest to resist the fast-food places and candy aisles at the grocery stores. It will be beneficial to you in the long run.

Solar Panels and Mistakes to Avoid

Due to the high costs associated with non-renewable energy and the apparent crisis, it has caused new research and newer technologies into our renewable energy sources. It has gone from rave to trendy to necessity. With the high interest in solar energy and control, one could get absorbed to the point of complete failure. Results will be a waste of valuable time or money or both.

Here are some mistakes others have made and you can avoid.

Rushing out and buying solar panels.

Don't go out purchasing solar panels without 1st finding out whether or not you can even legally install them on your home. Not all municipalities are up to date. Even if you can return the system and get a refund, time has been wasted. What if you've built yours? Again, wasted time and money maybe.

Living in the wrong area or too much shade.

Look and consider if solar panels on your roof will be in the shade of trees or buildings most of the time. It then may not be that practical. Solar panels must have adequate sun to be effective. Your local power company will be able to help you.

Having the wrong information

Nothing will set one back like having the wrong information. If you are building a homemade solar panel system or buying a kit and installing it yourself, unless you can understand the information, you will have trouble. Make sure you have easy to follow, step by step instructions with diagrams. Make sure you have a support and contact number. My advice is, it will be in your best interest as a do it yourself-er, to buy information from an expert. Someone with experience in making and operating their own systems.

Not having the patience and time

This one point is a major hindrance to avoid. If you are going to build and install your own solar panels, make sure you are going to complete the job. If you run out of time and patience, this failure will eat at you like a cancer. Un-completed projects waste valuable time and money. Be prepared.

Not putting safety 1st

Solar energy not only has benefits, but it also has inherited dangers. Caution must be exercised concerning the eyes since irreparable damage can happen from solar reflection and glare. If you are using your system to generate electricity, then use extreme caution as electricity can be deadly as well.

If you avoid these common mistakes and succeed in building and installing your own solar panel system, then you will be able to reap the long term benefits that solar panels offer in reducing your power bill and saving you money. Plus, your reduction in non-renewable energy use helps the environment. Solar energy is clean, abundant and free.

Energy Star Appliances

By purchasing energy star appliances consumers are doing their part to live a green lifestyle and preserve the environment. The energy star label is not placed on all appliances. It is a specialized label that was created and developed by the Environment Protection Agency and the United States Department of Energy for specific appliances that are made for home use.

An energy star label is a small label and it can be difficult to find on some appliances. The label itself is white and blue and has a simple design. It consists of a blue star and the words "energy star." It is important for all concerned consumers to look for the label when purchasing new appliances. If the label cannot be found most sales people are knowledgeable on which appliances meet the energy star specifications.

The environmental energy star specifications are rigorous. They are meant to find the best products that are efficient to use and earth friendly. Each product is tested for its consumption and energy use. For example, with appliances that use water, they use less water than other appliances that are not energy star rated. Every appliance that is awarded an energy star label offers significant energy savings, pollution reduction and economic savings. In fact, the energy star label usually certifies that an appliance will use up to less energy than regular non-energy star items.

An entire house can easily be outfitted with the best energy efficient appliances. Owners sometimes choose to get new appliances during a remodel or during construction of a new home. Other property owners simply upgrade their existing appliances one by one.

Almost every home appliance can be certified with the energy star label. Some of the most popular types of household items that can be energy star appliances include: clothes washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers.

There are also some energy star household items that many consumers do not realize exist. These items include: battery chargers, air cleaners, water coolers, water heaters, dehumidifiers and air conditioners. All of these items are great to include in an energy efficient home.

Not every environmentally conscience person owns an energy star certified appliance. One of the largest reasons for this is cost. Energy efficient appliances are not the least expensive appliances that are available on the retail market. In fact, the energy star label can often mean a higher price for a household appliance or other item. The higher initial price is worth it to most. A person's cost of energy can easily go down with that addition of even one energy efficient appliance in their home. With more than one appliance, the savings in energy costs in usually more than noticeable.

For those of us that can still not afford a large upfront cost for a green appliance, there are in-store sales and used appliances available. Some stores even offer additional discounts on appliances that have been slightly damaged. The damage is most often cosmetic and does not affect the workings of the machine. A cosmetically damaged product is a great way to get an energy star appliance at a lower cost and still be able to benefit from its energy efficiency and savings.

Greenergy - Where Does it Come From?

Green energy, or greenergy, is a term used to describe all methods of creating energy that are environmentally friendly and non-polluting. Therefore may provide a solution to the ever-present problems of pollution and global warming. Scientists and entrepreneurs alike have developed many forms of green energy.

  • Wind Power - The conversion of wind energy into electricity by using wind turbines that turn as the wind blows.
  • Solar Power - The utilization of the radiant energy of the sun through solar panels that collect and convert the sun rays.
  • Hydropower - The use of moving water to turn giant turbines which in turn create electricity.
  • Anaerobic Digestion - The burning of "farts" from microorganisms after they digest biodegradable material to create electricity.
  • Geothermal Power - The generation of electricity by harnessing the heat stored beneath the earth's surface to turn turbines as it rises into the atmosphere.
  • Biomass Power - The burning of biomass material, such as dead plants and plant-like materials, to create energy. Biofuel is a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels.

Nuclear energy is arguably a form of green energy. The process of splitting atoms and harnessing the resulting energy is much cleaner than burning coal or oil. However, problems with disposing of nuclear waste lay claim that this method is neither efficient nor effective in cutting CO2 emissions.

Keep in mind, no form of energy creation is entirely impact-free. Even the manufacturing and installation of wind turbines creates CO2 emissions before the turbines can generate the first ampere of electricity.

Saving the World One Solar Panel at a Time

In this increasingly environmentally aware and money conscious world, more and more people are choosing to use solar power systems in their homes. A solar powered house uses less electricity and is better for the environment. But many people are worried about how much it costs. This article will tell you how to install solar panels onto your home so you can save money in the future.

Electricity from a light source is called photovoltaic. This solar power system converts sunlight into electricity that can be used to run common household items like lights, appliances, and computers. A solar photovoltaic (PV) system enables you to generate electricity from the sunlight, which is an inexhaustible resource that costs you nothing. PV systems do not need fuel, do not cause pollution and can last for as many as 25 years with very little maintenance. Over its lifetime, a PV system located on the roof of your house could save about 34 tons of greenhouse gasses.

The amount of electricity produced by a PV cell depends on the strength of the light which it received. For that reason, PV cells usually produce more solar electricity when it is sunny than they do on overcast days. This doesn't mean that the solar system can not function when it is cloudy outside. Recently PV technology has been used in the roofs and walls of houses, businesses, and factories in city areas.

When choosing the solar power system that suits you best, take into consideration the amount of power you want to generate using solar panels, price of materials and installation, and how much natural sunlight is available. You can put as many solar modules on your roof as will fit. However, remember that putting in too many modules decreases in the cost effectiveness. Use a Solar Pathfinder to do a solar site survey. This will help you find the net energy output of partially shaded modules, and you will then be able to decide whether adding solar panels is worthwhile.

By installing a solar powered system onto your house or company, there can be some great financial and environmental benefits. Solar panels not only decrease or get rid of your utility bills, they may also significantly increase the value of your house. Your solar system will pay for itself in five to ten years with the money you save on heating and cooling your home. Additionally, many rebates are available from the government to homeowners who take such steps to be environmentally conscious. Speaking of the environment, there is no comparison to solar power. This type of fuel has no cost, is clean, and is renewable. As costs go down for technology, additional people make the move to go green. Using solar energy is only one way you can help save the planet and its resources for generations to come.

Martin Landex is a handyman who has worked with Sacramento licensed roofing contractors for more than 25 years. Martin noticed an explosion in the trend of solar panel installation by home owners and businesses in the Sacramento area. Because of this demand, 85% of his business is now spent working with Sacramento solar roofing contractors.

Bedroom Heater Saving Money While You Sleep

Winter energy bills can be terribly upsetting. It seems that we spend way too much on heating our homes in cold weather. Wouldn't it be better to spend this money on something more fun? Well, there are several ways to cut your energy bill, and the simplest way is to invest in a bedroom heater.

We spend almost one third of our life in bed and there is no need to have central heating on while you sleep. It is only the bedroom that you want to be warm at night, is not it? For the bedroom you can get a separate wall heater or a portable electrical heater. Make sure you select a heater that is safe and doesn't require constant attention. Heaters with open radian element should not be used. It can start a fire if a curtain or your cloth blows across the heating element.

Bedroom Heater Features

The best choice for a bedroom heater is oil filled radiators. They are safe, silent (which is very important while you are asleep) and they provide enough heat to comfortably warm up an average size bedroom.

It pays off to get a more expensive model that has a timer. This way you can set it to warm the room more before you have to wake up and get out of bed. But while you are actually asleep it is best to have the temperature not too warm.

Also some new models have an instant heat button that allows you to heat up your room very quickly. This is very useful if you forgot to set the timer or when you just came back home and want to warm up fast.

To find the right size heater for your bedroom, look at its specifications. Most models tell you for what heating aria they are intended. Don't assume the bigger the better. Heater that is too big will not provide any additional benefits, but will consume more energy than necessary.

More Energy Saving Tips

Did you know that you can add timers to your central heating? There is no need to make your central heater work all day while you are at work. With the timer you can make it switch on about half an hour before you come home, this will warm up your house adequately. Of course, this won't work if you have pets, they dread cold as much as we do.

Also check all drafts and increase insulation. If you have old windows, consider replacing them with storm windows. Having good insulation can make a huge difference, especially when it is windy outside.

In conclusion, a bedroom heater is very convenient and saves you a great deal. So if you don't have one yet, it is time to compare different models of bedroom heaters and get one that is suitable for your room.

Harness the Power of the Sun

We have recently seen shock rises in oil prices and corresponding rises in gas and electricity. While oil prices have thankfully declined, we have yet to see the cost of our utilities decline to their former levels. Many people are considering the real possibility of a massive energy shortage in the coming decades. With this in mind, more and more companies and households are seeking out alternative sources. The ideal alternative is an energy source that is less demanding on the Earth's natural resources, more economical for the company or individual and finally a source that is kinder the global environment.

The answer to many people is not to deplete the world around us but to harness it and utilize the Earth's natural power without causing lasting damage that will be felt by our children. The number one area that people are investigating is the so-called 'renewable' energy sources. This concept refers to sources that provide energy from natural resources that are, unlike oil or coal, naturally replenished. Sources such as wind and tidal power have long been candidates for the main provider of energy in the future. However, there is one source that has been providing energy for our planet since life itself began, the sun.

Harnessing the power of the sunlight, or so called solar power, is not a new concept but as today's technologies increase in sophistication, new means and methods of bringing the energy provided by the sun to the everyday consumer are turning heads in the scientific world. The beauty of solar power is that households and businesses can eliminate the need for reliance on vast power stations and turn to solar panels to provide a self contained solution to energy needs. In fact, many architects are now beginning to incorporate solar power solutions into their original plans for buildings. By designing buildings and structures with both energy conservation and generation in mind, the final goal is to create what is called a 'Zero Energy Building'. This, despite the jargon, literally means a building that has an energy consumption of zero. This would effectively eliminate that building's requirement to be attached to some national energy provision service and reducing the overall burden on natural resources.

One of the major benefits of solar power over other renewable sources is the fact that the sun is a globally obtainable source of power that is not as expensive as demanding as sources like tidal or wind power. With advances in technology, using solar energy for heating and electricity generation has become a realistic and affordable solution for home owners.

Laptops Conserve Power, Reduce School District Energy Costs and Help Minimize Carbon Footprint

U.S. K-12 schools are challenged to serve growing student populations and rising community expectations with constrained operating budgets and ever-increasing energy bills. According to Energy Star, the annual energy bill to run America's primary and secondary schools is a staggering $6 billion - more than is spent on textbooks and computers combined. In the midst of this energy crisis, the debate rages on: laptops or desktops? To some, the answer is clear. Energy Star, a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, is aimed at helping American consumers save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. According to Energy Star's Web site, "Notebooks are the most obvious way to save energy ... laptops use the most energy efficient displays (LCD), adapters, hard disks and CPUs that are available."

The Web site adds that notebooks can offer up to 80 percent in savings when compared to desktop PCs. "Even in the notebooks intended as 'desktop replacement,' with a larger screen (up to 17 inches) and less aggressive power management settings, the savings are still well over 50 percent."

In areas with blackouts and power-surges the notebook (batteries included) could save even more. In these areas, desktop PCs typically require the backup of a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to keep computer users from losing data. And a UPS is not only a significant extra cost, it is also a significant energy-eater.

If a school district's budget takes priority over total cost of ownership, most desktop PCs are cheaper than notebooks. However, even when only looking at the energy cost advantages, buying a notebook might well be worth the extra money.

Renewable Energy - Make It - Use It - Sell It

Are you (almost) afraid to open your electric bill each month?

Did you know that the average house uses (approx.) 10,654 kWh of electricity every year? (Source: Dept. of Energy) At an average cost of .1097 cents per kWh, that is $1168.00 per year!?

You know the Sun bombards us with more (free) power & energy than one can imagine and most of that renewable energy is wasted. If you can find a way to harness that energy and use it to power your home, that IS the way to go.

You can save (not pay for) 75 to 90% of your energy bill each and every month if you were able to use the renewable energy produced on a daily basis all around you.

AND why do we need to put up with the fairly regular brown-outs and black-outs that occur in a lot of areas?

As more and more people are becoming aware of the massive impact our energy uses have on the Environment, our wallets, and our National Security, this idea, Solar Power or more specifically, Home Solar Power is seeing a very large surge of interest.

Have you ever thought of having a home solar power energy system in your own back yard?

Many people have been expressing the interest in solar power & wind power for their homes for a couple of reasons:

1. First of all, they want to Save Money!
2. Secondly, of course, they want to help save the environment! (It is, after all, the only place we have to live right now.)

NOW, have you ever imagined building this type of solar power system?

Our Technology based lifestyles have us using all sorts of things to make our life safer, more hygienic, and more comfortable than our ancestors, and why not? However, that does come at a price if you want to continue to pay the electric company, the gas company, or whoever it is that you do pay to power these things that you want and need.

You can get all kinds of information about how to cut-back on your electrical usage but that doesn't change the price you pay for what you do use. Generating your OWN power will.

The first thing you are going to be thinking about is: Finding a professional company that can come in and do all the construction, disrupt your household for a while, (probably) make a mess and then hit you will a bill that might look like you buying a new car.

And of course there is the issue of whether there is anyone in your area that even does this kind of work.

But, Hey, I have a thought! Do you have a little bit of a Do-It-Yourself nature about you?

You can build (yourself) a Home Solar Power system for less than $200.00 with material that you can find at most hardware stores and construct it within the next week.

How does that sound to you?

Imagine if:

You never had to pay an electric bill again,
You KNOW that the power you are generating is Clean and Reliable,
When the power goes out for everyone else on your block, you can still carry on your daily activities,
Any excess power that you produce can either be stored for future use AND/OR
That extra power can be sold to the electric company?

Yes, you can make money from the electric company!

Imagine that.

Make It with your own Emission-free, silent, Green Home Solar Power plant.

Use It to power the lifestyle that you are comfortable with.

Sell It to the electric company when you don't need all of what you produce!

Solar Power For Homes - Build Your Own Solar Panels Stop Paying Hefty Electricity Bills Now

While Global economies are undergoing their usual cycle of boom and bust, many households are left in the cold, literally, for not being able to pay their electricity bills. Many would really welcome the monthly savings from not having to pay utility bills and yet enjoy the warm comforts of basic facilities such as heating, power for home appliances etc. Building your own solar panels for home use is the answer to the solution. And many individuals are catching on to this, simply because sunlight is a totally free, renewable, clean source of energy. Collect it in its raw form, convert it into electricity and you are on your way to save up to 80% of your household monthly utility bills.

Key Tips For Building Your Own Solar Panels For Home

Get a good guide from those who have successfully created their own homemade solar energy system. The good ones come with thorough clear instructions on how to make, assemble and install your system. They include specific design diagrams, as well as directions on where and how to get the required parts, most of which are available at your friendly neighborhood hardware store. Pick those with member forums so that you could discuss your project with other like-minded members. There are only a handful which comes with step by step videos to walk through the entire process. Choose one of those and it will speed up your learning process by five folds.

Remember that you need to tap on sunlight, so locate your panels directly facing the sun and the best place is your rooftop. Alternatively, you could locate at open unblocked space at your garden or backyard. Even if you only have one or two windows which are directly sun facing, if it is large enough to mount the panels, you are good to go.

How Much Do You Save With A Homemade Solar Power System?

By building your own solar panels you are able to save a good amount of money. Take for instance if you were to buy ready made solar panels, the cost of which would set you back at least 3000 dollars per panel. With a do it yourself solar panel, you spend less than 200 dollars, I have tried and built my own so I know the costs involved. All you need is a weekend and your solar panels can be up and running.

And this is not the end of the story, the best is yet to come. When you start using your solar panels, you will find you monthly electricity bills reduced by at least 80 percent. This savings is good throughout the lifespan of your solar panels.

On top of all the above, you will receive green tax credits, rid yourself of rising energy prices, and do your bit of against global warming.

There is no better alternative energy source than Free sunlight and there is no better time to start building homemade solar panels and start saving.

Energy Saving Ideas For Your Home

Here are some of the best energy saving ideas to help you get the most out of your fuel this winter. Even if the price is not still rising, it's great to know that no unnecessary domestic fuel or electricity is being used to add to our mounting problems of climate change and global warming.

These are all things you can do today!

These are all things that you can do today or in a very short space of time to improve your energy efficiency in your home. There are ten of them - but there are dozens more. These are just the easy and quick ones!

1. Turn off machines on standby. They may be costing you about one tenth of your electricity usage. You can now buy remote devices to switch them off but a flick of a switch is also quite practical!

2. Remove all mobile phone chargers, camera chargers and DAB radios from the plug socket when they are not actually being used. Many of these devices use electricity even when they are not in use. Some even use more energy when they aren't being used than when they are! You can often feel the warmth given off by the transformer (the part which goes into the socket.)

3. Use your dishwasher and washing machine at times when you can benefit from the heat generated. Put last night's dishes on to wash first thing in the morning, for example.

4. Put a foil lining behind your fridge or freezer to help keep the heat in the room. Fridges and freezers have a heat exchanger at the back which gives out warm air. If you have your machine next to an outside wall most of this heat is lost.

5. You can also benefit from putting foil behind domestic radiators. Again, this is most useful if the radiator is next to an uninsulated outside wall.

6. Fit CFL light bulbs as standard throughout your home. Some of the better quality ones not only last for years but also give out light of daylight tone. You can even buy ones which dim now.

7. Turn your boiler off well before you go to bed. If your house is reasonably well insulated you should not notice the difference. Most people could easily turn the heating down a degree or two. Use warmer clothing and plenty of layers. Bamboo is particularly good at providing lightweight warmth.

8. Install well-fitting lined curtains or thermal blinds to help keep the warmth inside your home when darkness falls. Good draught excluders are also well worth using to keep down excessive air movement in chilly weather. Fit good draught excluders to all your doors and windows.

9. Turn off your TV when it is not in use. TVs can use significant energy, especially ones with plasma screens. Same goes for computers. Fortunately, the more modern ones will go into standby mode if left. They are still better switched off.

10. Use LED wind up torches wherever possible. There is no power needed other than a little human muscle!
